"Improving our interpreting skills is an on-going objective for most of us. Interpreters who work with deaf-blind persons, have additional skills to hone. Besides proficiency in expressive and receptive skill, deaf-blind interpreting calls for insightful thinking and discerning judgment. It requires ability and willingness to perform actions that are often outside the realm of our “regular” interpreting tasks, for we are not only the “ears,” for our consumers, we are also their “eyes.”
